Easter Vigil at St Gregory Nyssa

Thanks Huw! Χριστός Ανέστη

Ok, I'm one of those Sarum Anglocatholics, and to be sure, you will never see me dancing in church (I left that behind when I left the Pentecostal Church); but, I love the Easter Joy that is giving life to this liturgy. It is infectious. I imagine I might have even shouted out "He is Risen Indeed!" (ok, I might have danced too ;) )

I've been there -- dancing, even ;-). (I lived in the Bay Area for a decade before moving here and had lots of friends who were members at St. Greg's.) But my favorite liturgy there is the most toned-down one (which for St. Greg's is not saying a lot ;-) since they tend to be a little over the top -- as a priest friend of mine joked when she moved to the congregation where I was, "Like the Aida procession with everything but the elephants" LOL), Good Friday evening, a Byzantine-harmonies sung Vespers with veneration of the icon of the taking down from the cross. Beautiful.

Great posts on your blog these last few days! Can't quite keep up but I'll come back and visit some more when I've a bit more time.

Had a good anti-racism committee meeting. We started with a big chunk of prayer and scripture reflection and then got down to business.

Then I got a whole bunch of sleep :-).

Blessings --

O, the Good Friday Vespers sounds lovely.

I'm glad the Anti-Racism Commission had a fruitful meeting. Blessings be with you for your work there.

Hehgehe.

WE'd have had you dancing, Fr! But at the Easter Vigil we'd have dress you up and given you something to do, as well.

Good Friday Vespers was always overwhelming, but my favourite service was the the Maundy Footwashing. Yes, Christ present in the person next to me... in me washing their feet. It was astounding.
